Next Hero : Tundra ! It's a Port


S2 kept their promise so far and still bumps up content in weekly patches. Another one is about to come the next days: Tundra!

Today I received an image of the next hero to be added to Heroes of Newerth. Its name is Tundra, and from watching the Artwork you can guess that it will live up to its name.

Tundra will take the role of a ganker, in addition to the latest addition Bubbles (DotA port: Puck) they are a nice addition to everyone's gankpool.
The Abilities are not published yet, but stay updated.

But know what you all came to this blog for: The artwork.

In my opinion he looks more like a strength carry than a ganker, but let's see what his abilities are. I'm also curious about which side it will fight for: Legion or Hellbourne. But I hope it will be an evil one =).

iGames & S2Games : Heroes of Newerth LAN Games

iGames is excited to be partnering with S2 Games to launch a LAN center-specific solution for the official upcoming release of Heroes of Newerth. This solution has been designed to make account-based games more suitable for the LAN center environment. By participating in this service, LAN centers can purchase Heroes of Newerth "seats" that will allow an unlimited number of users to create their own HoN accounts. The main benefits of this service are:

1. Centers no longer need to purchase house accounts and share them among multiple users.
2. Centers will be able to allow an unlimited number of users to create HoN accounts.
3. Users will have their own account, access to their own characters and game play settings but will only be able to access the account from a participating LAN center.

ABOUT THE GAME
Heroes of Newerth (HoN) is a session based multiplayer action RPG game based on the popular mod, Defense of the Ancients. Two teams of 5 play as special Hero units with the assistance of AI-controlled armies in an attempt to destroy the enemy base. As a match progresses, players can earn experience and gold which can be used to upgrade skills or purchase items to make their characters more powerful. The team oriented design of HoN and unprecedented Voice-Over-IP controls allow for a incredibly deep tactical team based experience unlike any other.

- Following functionality added: Right click on a buddy or clanmate and select "Follow" to follow them. You will join and leave any games they join or leave until you unfollow them, quit the game, or are in a game that starts.

- Players attempting to re-connect to servers they got disconnected from will no longer be unable to join them due to PSR restrictions for times when they have recently played a game and their PSR was not updated before connecting to the server.
- Fixed matchmaking to auto focus the channel they join in on
- Removed the "stats reset by release" notification from the reset stats form
- Fixed an issue where blank lines would appear on IMs when one of the players chatting would join or leave a game.
- Fixed a bug where the No Stats icon would not show up in notifications for games that were "No Stats"
- The game will no longer display an additional disconnect message indicating that the hero was removed and assets distributed to their team when a player with no team is kicked from the game
- Rearranged the icons on the bottom of Public Games interface to make more space and fix alignments
- Updated Min/Max PSR Filter to be a little more lenient, for example selecting <1500 and >1600 now checks if it the server is <=1500 or >=1600.
- Tweaked the Public Game interface so that it can now display the actual advanced game options when hovering over the "Advanced Options" icon

- Removed requirement to enter a reason when banning someone via "/bl add nickname", it now defaults to the reason "None" if none is specified

- Using "/r" will only reply to the last whisper received, and will no longer reply to the last buddy or clan whisper


Matchmaking

- Added maximum spread setting for matchmaking
* This will ensure that you are not forced to play with players far above or below your rating
- Restrict matchmaking regions to just USW, USE, EU
- Improve tracking of matchmaking failure rates and player disconnections


Heroes

Bubbles
- Fixed a glitch when you had a body effect on and threw the shell
- Can now use Shell Surf's teleport while under the effects of Take Cover
- Take Cover now triggers off tower hits
- Initial radius of Kelp Field changed from 600 to 400

Chipper
- Rocket Barrage damage reduced from 105/130/155/180 to 85/115/145/180
- Sawblade Showdown cooldown set to 50 seconds at all levels (from 60/45/30)

Fayde
- Stances will no longer reset when she dies

Gauntlet
- Completely reworked, still a dev hero. Let us know what you think on the forums.

Night Hound
- Updated the tooltip for Smoke Bomb to explain that he cannot attack towers while in the cloud

This patch contained mostly entity/balance fixes (and a new hero). A full code patch will be coming next week that will fix various issues and bugs.

New Way to Purchase HoN

For those of you who have been trying to purchase HoN, but don't have a credit card or PayPal account, today's your lucky day!

You can now purchase HoN via Money Order or Cashiers Check.

The option to do so is on the right side of the Billing Page next to the PayPal option when you are trying to create/upgrade your account. Just click the "Pay by Mail" button and you will be prompted to type in your first and last name and your email address. A form will then be sent to your email, which you will mail in with a USD$30 Money Order or Cashiers Check (this must be in US Dollars!). After we receive your form and payment, we will email you a redemption code to the email address you supplied.

Be sure to follow the instructions on the form to make sure everything goes through correctly.

You can now purchase a sub-account with a nickname taken by an old beta account for $20.00 USD.

Sub-accounts provide an additional identity for your account with its own nickname, statistics, and buddies. Your sub-account is tied to your main account and only one account in that group can be logged in at any given time.

Gauntlet and the Retail Launch News






















Bye bye Beta, here comes the coolest and peak moment of Heroes of Newerth, now it's LIVE and going to officially launched, you guys need to prepurchase the game in order to continue playing this great game, now the S2Crew are busy working with the retail launch.
UPDATE - For the pre purchased user that already got beta client, you guys can just patch it into 1.0.1 version.

Developer chat with HoN creators this Thursday

This Thursday, May 13, the developers of Heroes of Newerth will be answering your questions through IRC on their newly opened #HoN channel.

- Added Dev Hero Mode
* When enabled, Dev Hero Mode allows work-in-progress "development" heroes to be played
* All future S2 Hero additions are going to be added as "dev heroes," this allows us to get feedback on a large scale and evaluate balance before including the hero in the stable hero pool
* Dev hero mode must be enabled when hosting games. It can be filtered in the game list. Dev heroes will not be used in matchmaking or competitive tournaments
- Added new advanced game option "Tournament Rules"
* When enabled, allows the host to specify in the game lobby which team gets first ban

- Added "Hardcore Mode" advanced game option

Lately I keep wondering about my blog template, this hon blog template I mean, for me, it's quite simple and I like it, but the problem is, I think it's unstructured and messy(maybe because of the widgets in the sidebar).Also about the template itself, it doesn't represent or show Heroes of Newerth in it, I mean maybe  the template should have Heroes of Newerth image as it background, etc.
That's why now I'm still searching and looking for a perfect template for this blog.

Test Client Info - Updated

Hey guys, we've got the next patch available for preview on our "test client," a separate version of HoN that we use to test upcoming content.

We need as much testing on this as possible. We've got tons of code fixes and they need to be thoroughly tested. We've also made some updates to how match making works and we need as many people as possible to give it a try.

Here's a sneak peak at some of the changes that can be found in the test client:
- New str hero, Balphagore
- Tons of long-standing bug fixes
* Fixed things like devourer's hook from appearing to come from random directions
* Fixed going the "long way" when eating a tree
- Some game resources load prior to entering match making queue, meaning you shouldn't have to wait as long for other players to load
- Other match making updates to more reliably find games if you are at the low/high end of the spectrum, as well as to more reliably replace players who fail to load

And of course, tons of balance improvements.

Hey guys, we've got a test client build going with *some* changes to match making (more coming), a new hero, and some other balance tweaks.

We're like to schedule a match making test for 5/5/2010 at 3pm PST (-8 GMT). Please download the test client and login at that time. The test server will be up tonight, but we'll be taking it down tomorrow until the test begins.

S2 Games Partners With Garena For SEA Operations

Hey everyone,

S2 Games is happy to announce that we have chosen Garena as our strategic partner for key countries in South East Asia (SEA), namely Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines. Garena currently hosts the largest gaming community in SEA, making this a valuable partnership for both parties.

As announced earlier, Heroes of Newerth will be going to retail on Wednesday, May 12th. This means that players need to purchase a paid account to be able to continue to enjoy the game. However, Garena has decided to keep the game free-to-play for its target countries and gamers in these locations do not need to purchase a paid account. Due to this, we have to restrict the access of gamers from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines from playing in our international servers.

Garena is currently still setting up their dedicated servers for the South East Asia region, so there is an expected lull time for users in these four countries wherein they will be unable to play the game. The Beta Testing Phase for Garena servers expected to start before the end of May.

At the start of closed beta, gamers from these countries will be able to redeem a Beta Key immediately if they are Garena Gold Members, while other keys are given away in other community efforts. Please note that countries not stated here (e.g. Indonesia, Thailand) will be unable to play on Garena servers, and would require purchasing a paid account to enjoy the game in S2 Games? international servers.
