Nigma as the New Community Manager

Hello citizens of Newerth!

I am pleased and excited to announce that from this day forward, I will be operating as the Heroes of Newerth Community Manager. My primary role will be to act as a liaison between yourselves and the S2 developers, making sure that your concerns are acknowledged and addressed while granting all of you greater insight into what S2 is working on and the statuses of long-term projects. My goal is to greatly improve the transparency between players and developers, and to help foster the ideology that Heroes of Newerth is a community-driven game. Some of you have been understandably upset that you've been kept in the dark about certain projects, while others of you have expressed skepticism about your concerns being heard. My job is to alleviate those issues, and to in turn improve your Heroes of Newerth experience. I'm a man with a plan, and I'd like to outline that plan for all of you:

News After S2 moved to Michigan Office


So, somebody already asked about this in the forum, about when is the patch or any news, and we should be happy, because next week they plan to patch, including :

1.) Kraken rework
2.) Blood Chalice alterations
3.) Engi turret alterations
4.) Balphagore balance

So, seems like the Grimm's Crossing and Deadwood rework wont be in the next patch again...
But Kraken rework is awesome, sure you guys will love it, but what will they do to my Balphy?
Really love that hero...

Map Editor progress & Screenshots


Hey Everyone,

I wanted to post a few screenshots of the new interface that we've been putting on the Map Editor.

I also wanted to updated everyone on what is going on. K2 Engine (the game engine used to power HoN) has always had an editor. That editor was used primarily for 1 thing, create the maps (meaning terrain and doodads) in which we use for Savage 2 and HoN. That said, it was for internal use and was very archaic and missing some features that we would use console commands or scripting for.

What we have been doing, yes, working on it VERY diligently for the last few months, is clean up all those console commands and put a brand new interface that makes it much user friendly. That is no simple task mind you.

We are now on the finishing touches of that portion of the editor. We also have another set of features we must add now that the editor as a map creating tool is complete (or really close to). Those features turn the map editor into a much more powerful game editor. We could literally spend YEARS doing this portion of the editor as the sky is the limit. However, we want to incorporate many basic functions for altering the scripting within games. Once this is finished, we will have a tool that can be used to create other game types (say a tower defense) within the HoN framework.

Anyways, there is more information to come and I wanted to make sure you guys were all aware this isn't a vaporware feature! Enjoy the screens and sorry for the wall of text.

TL;DR - Check out some of the interface of the map editor, we're making good progress and trying to get it done ASAP.

- Improved chat server stability
- Fixed an issue where players were able to invite other players to their clan even if the targetted player was already in a clan
- Game lobby now displays more stats about players when you hover over the stats button next to their character portrait
- Fixed an exploit where players could set d_drawAreaAffectors to true, and they could see the effect of Madman's stalk in action while he was invisible. This cvar will only work on practice games or replays from now on
- Fixed drag selection of flying units (Tundra Bird or Courier). Trying to select the bird should no longer cause epic levels of rage.
- Spectators (and players in replays) can now view the shop
- Fixed shop error messages not showing up when shopping from the main shop panel
- Fixed spectator gold/min inaccuracies when players sell items
- Little fix for the tiny icons in spectator mode

Note: The fog-pathing change did not make it into this patch due to a major server stability issue involved with it.

- Infoheight changed so the healthbar isn't on her face
- Grace of the Nymph now also increases the target's Movespeed by 25/50/75/100
- Zeal range lowered from 1200 to 900
- Speed of the Zeal projectile lowered from 1100 to 1000

Sand Wraith
- Fixed Desert's Curse to follow correctly

Vindicator
- Glyph of Silence can now silence people in the fog again
* This is a temp bugfix to when someone won't get silenced even if you can see them
* It is possible it will be changed back to vision-limited once the code bug is fixed

1.0.11 Changelog Prediction

Based on what S2Maliken and S2Idejder said in the forum in several thread, and also S2Shawn told us about the pathfinding.So I predict the 1.0.11 will includes these things :

-A new Interface, about showing stats
-Pathing/Memory fixes
-Trial Account*
-Some minor balance tweaks
-Maybe the Armadon and Blood Chalice bug(lately it's trending to pick Arma and bring BC)

Then, they'll off to Michigan and we will get more awesome stuff to come(new hero too I think, and map editor)

So the patch will not include the :

-Kraken and Deadwood rework
-Grimm's crossing

* Also coming with 1.0.11 is Trial Accounts. These will be 10 game trials that allow you to give keys to friends for them to play no-stats games and see if they want to buy. Just another way to pull those fu@*&ers in!!! - S2Maliken
