The secret shop is a years-old vestige of what was formerly a positional requirement to buy items. With the advent of flying couriers, any tactical gameplay depth to the secret shop's location was effectively diminished to a mere inconvenience to players. While we do acknowledge that the secret shop served a unique purpose, we ultimately weighed the advantages of such a mechanic with the disadvantages. In this case, the marginal addition to the gameplay depth was far outweighed by the inconvenience of being forced to buy component items in two different locations, as well as the inherent learning difficulties presented to newer players. It is important to not misconstrue our intent as making the game easier to play, but rather, that we show a critical eye to obsolete mechanics that no longer serve a defined purpose. The Observatory is the result of these changes, and while it may seem sparse for now, rest assured that we have further, exciting plans for the building with the intended result of adding overall gameplay options, ultimately resulting in a richer, more strategic experience.

Could They make a separate Map for this.. with Secret Shop and without Secret Shop? could they? why they remake one map only?
they should make this map for newbies only
and retain the old for intermediate & Pros and DOta players..
Want to get rid of the secret shop? that's fine, make a new map, but leave the default DOTA map be.
I'm not playing HoN because I want something different, I'd play LoL or something else for that.
I want DotA. And that's what I've found in HoN, except a much improved DotA with it's own engine and leaver protection etc etc...
This however is game changing, and I'm not sure I'm interested in this one...

You can see three other alt couriers in this. A bat, an alien in a UFO, and a rat with a chinese take out box.

I play support. I approve this change.
I also never played DOTA. So I tend to not have problems with any of the changes that stop this game from being incredibly outdated. I never understood why the hell the Secret Shop was there in the first place.
WHY NOT just make items at the secret shop NOT PURCHASABLE by couriers????

in LOL, you can play without SKILLS (for newbies)
but in HON&DOTA you are required to have skills to play it...
but now... ZZZzZ.. HON will evolve to LOL

I don't really like the idea of removing the secret shop, as I loved it and the hilarious ganks that took place there and at the side shop.
Still, to the guy who said they were trying to make it skilless and easy like in LoL, I really doubt having a more user friendly interface that's easier to manage while allowing you to focus more intently on actual gameplay, is comparable to unskilled play.
Frankly, LoL is less challenging in the frustrating to learn mechanics like this, but does require skill because having a PvP game like it means that there really is no skill cap, and the best players will show it in their rating.
