UPDATE :Community Event 7/9/11 : Drop Totems
Community events are periodic days where you will have the opportunity to play a special kind of match. The scheduled matches may be anything from a normal game with item restrictions to a theme game such as Devo Wars or Drop Totems! These games will change often, and the winners will be rewarded with coins or items from the shop!
There is a Zero Tolerance rule in place for griefing. For the purpose of this event, the match rules should be considered game rules. If an individual is griefing a game, he should be kicked using vote kick and reported to Kisheek afterwards. If an entire team is griefing, attempt to play the game out, then report the incident to Kisheek afterwards.
Griefing of ANY sort will result in the offender(s) being disqualified and possibly blacklisted.
When will they take place?
The current plan is to organize a monthly event. If popularity rises, they may be run more often; this calendar will be updated with future events and information.
What are the rewards?
The rewards given will depend on the type of event being played. Among the various rewards are coins, alt avatars, account icons, and even forum rewards!
How do I sign up?
- Each event will have 2 forum posts; the first will be here, in General Discussion, and will hold the event details, qualifications, and directions.
- The second topic will be a thread in the Competitive Discussion section and will be the signup for the event. From this second topic, I will create a list of players/teams that will compete.
- After the sign-up period, chosen participants will receive a forum PM from me with instructions.
The sign-up thread will be initially locked. Three days prior to the event, it will be open for sign-ups. At 11:59PM EDT the night before to the event, the thread will be closed once again. Forum PM's will be sent as soon as they are available.
- Only one account per player may participate in the event. If it is found that a player has competed multiple times in an event, that player will receive no rewards and will be eliminated from the event.
- Failure to show up or participate in an event that you signed up for will be dealt with harshly. If you need to remove yourself from the event prior to its beginning, PM Kisheek on the forums no later than 3 hours prior to the event.**
What happens if someone doesn't show up, or, intentionally breaks the rules?
If someone is not there when the match is scheduled to start, the first thing that should always be done is for someone from that game to contact Kisheek via the PM window. I can then assess the situation and proceed accordingly.
No action should be taken without first contacting Kisheek.
Missing players will be given a warning concerning their absence. Players will be given a second chance to participate. If they abuse that, then they will not be allowed to participate in future events. I will attempt to find a replacement for that match. Details on this are in the next section. Games where no replacement can be found will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
I was not selected to participate in an event. Can I still play?
In addition to the regular sign-ups, you can be a stand-in. Stand-ins are people that where not selected to play in an event but may still participate if someone does not show up or is not able to play. Anyone can be a stand-in, but I will only select people that match closely to the no-show's stats. If you want to be a stand-in, you must simply be in the Community Events Stand-in channel during the event and I may select you to participate. By being in the channel, you agree to be present and available at short notice. Much like waiting on standby for a flight, it's not guaranteed that you will be selected.
Questions, comments, or suggestions?
At the bottom of this thread there is a spoiler box that will contain answers to questions that people ask here. In addition to posting here, you can send an e-mail to HoNCommunityEvents@gmail.com.
Well, that’s it! Enjoy the new...
